Five Germans spotted in Balangir Maoist hotbed

Even as the State Government is mulling extension of ban on entry of foreign tourists from six tribal districts to all Maoist-affected districts to ward off any possibility of further abductions following the abduction of two Italian tourists on March 14, reports of as many as five German nationals staying in Turla, a Maoist-hit area in Khaprakhol block of Balangir district, have been received, much to the surprise of many.
According to sources, five Germans, Mike, Amke, Sabine, Trina and Kristine, have visited the area many times in the last three years and have been staying at Turla village in Patnagarh subdivision for the past 20 days.
