Villagers of Buguda under the Tusra police station on Monday met Balangir Superintendent of Police R Prakash and demanded that the other accused involved in the rape of Popa (name changed) to be arrested.
According to reports, 15-year-old Popa of Buguda pounced upon during the early hours on May 9 one Lalbahadur Sahu who allegedly abducted and raped her.
A case of abduction and rape under Sections 363, 376, 506 and 34 of IPC has been registered at the Tusra police station in this connection. The main accused, Lalbahadur, has been arrested and sent to court, said Inspector in-Charge of the police station Bimalendu Satpathy.
The villagers demanded arrest of the other accused, Grish Sahu. They said the victim’s family members are getting threats and they should be provided security.
After listening to villagers’ complaints, the SP directed ASP Srikant Mishra to look into the case and assured the villagers that all culprits found to be involved in the case would be arrested.
